Prior knowledge of electrical principles and installations is assumed.
This course is for those not holding a previous 16th Edition certificate.
The IET (IEE) Wiring Regulations, commonly referred to as BS7671, is the traditionally recognised Approved Code of Practice adopted by installation electricians.
However, the legal requirements for anyone involved in electrical activities, such as simply selecting the size of cable or fuse, must be fully aware of this British Standard.
The course is aimed at practicing electricians, electrical contractors, craftsmen, technicians, apprentices, supervisors, etc who work with or are involved with, electrical installations.
This course provides an understanding of the complete Regulations and is designed to prepare candidates for the on-line examination set at the end of the course.
Course Objectives:
Successful candidates will demonstrate competence in:

understanding the scope and object of the regulations and fundamental requirements for safety;

understanding the definitions and terms used in the regulations;

protecting against electric shock, burns, fires and overheating of cables and equipment;

the proper selection of cablesand accessories;

knowing the recommended methods of installing equipment;

the awareness of the regulations regarding special installations (e.g. construction sites);

using the regulations correctly in the design, construction and maintenance of electrical installations.
