Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme Management

 

Advanced Apprentice (AA) Development Service to NVQ Level 3

Whilst many employers still recognise the importance of apprenticeship schemes, it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage such schemes with little or no workplace human resources. It is against this background that L.I.T.S. has delivered and managed very successful AA schemes for many blue-chip companies in the engineering maintenance, production and paper making sectors for over 22 years. Our AA development service can include the planning, coordinating and monitoring of AAs in order to achieve the requirements of the SEMTA AA Framework and this service can be provided anywhere in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands.

 

What does the service involve?

The service can include as little or as much as you feel you need and is priced accordingly. For example, it can include assisting in the first part of the process which is recruitment and selection to implementing a competence monitoring programme in the workplace to arranging for the award of the final AA certificate.

What can the service offer in detail?

L.I.T.S. can:

  • advise on Government support funding issues;

  • liaise consult and advise companies regarding methods and systems available to fulfil training needs;

  • arrange recruitment of apprentices as follows

    • notify and liaise with schools, careers offices and colleges etc

    • arrange and conduct selection tests

    • arrange and attend selection interviews and advise on selection

    • arrange meetings with parents to discuss the AA framework etc

  • investigate and arrange induction, off and on-the-job training, courses of Further Education and monitor progress at college and at work;

  • assess individuals against special learning needs and provide support for identified problems with dyslexia;

  • train and prepare apprentices for Functional Skills examinations;

  • advise on the selection of NVQ Units and prepare training plans for each AA;

  • complete registration certificate application forms;

  • supply and prepare evidence portfolios, assessment plans, training manuals and NVQ units;

  • implement NVQ assessments and internal verifications;

  • visit each apprentice at agreed intervals in order to counsel, inspect portfolios, monitor progress and advise staff etc;

  • arrange additional training as appropriate to ensure the fulfilment of training specifications;

  • supply and arrange completion of progress reports;

  • arrange and attend apprentice reviews;

  • arrange and conduct training for staff responsible for apprentices.

Certification

Successful apprentices will achieve the full framework outcomes at NVQ Level 2 and 3 including the supporting City & Guilds or BTEC certificates and Functional Skills.

Monitoring Fees

Fees vary according to the level of service required but employers can be supported by Government funding under existing rules.
